Windows Domains / Server Based Networking

Working with Windows-based Domains can provide you with a centralized resource for holding data, applications, web and various types of internet & intranet-based servers. The advantage of this is having all your data in one location and being able to share that information among your home or office. This type of network layout is mostly used with a network that contains 10 or more PC’s. 

Peer-to-Peer Networking

With peer-to-peer networking you can share files, printers and other resources to share with a handful of PC’s. This type of network will not be as resource centralized, but can be useful for basic resource sharing. This type of network setup is mostly used with a maximum of 10 computers, to keep a network running proficiently.

Wireless Technologies

Just within the last few years wireless networking has grown substantially. The advantage of wireless networking is to have the freedom from running a cable from your pc to your router, hub or other networking device. With wireless you can virtually have access anywhere in your home, and if there are areas where the signal isn’t strong, you can have additional hardware that will repeat the wireless signal giving you access in that particular area.
